Denver Drill Training

Wednesday, December 10, 2014 1930 hours Lt. Perkins instructed a training class on the Denver Drill and other firefighter rescue technique variations using the James City training apparatus.  JCBVFD members practiced one-person, two-person, and ladder-assisted rescues.

The Denver Drill is named in memory of Denver Firefighter Mark Langvardt a 16-year veteran who perished during a 3-alarm fire on September 28, 1992.  In his memory, firefighters recognized a need to train specifically on rescuing our own rapidly from similar situations: elevated floor, narrow floor space, window access, etc.
